Understanding CBD Dosing: A Beginner's Guide
One of the biggest challenges with CBD is figuring out how much to take. Unlike pharmaceuticals, there's no one-size-fits-all dosage. Your ideal dose depends on your body weight, metabolism, the condition you're addressing, and the concentration of CBD in your product.
Start Low and Go Slow
The golden rule of CBD dosing is to start with a low dose (10โ15mg per day) and gradually increase every few days until you feel the desired effects. This approach minimises the risk of side effects and helps you find your personal sweet spot.
General Dosing Guidelines
- Low dose: 10โ25mg/day โ mild anxiety, general wellness
- Medium dose: 25โ50mg/day โ moderate pain, sleep issues
- High dose: 50โ100mg+/day โ chronic pain, severe anxiety (consult a doctor)
How to Calculate Your Dose
Most South African CBD oils come in 30ml bottles with concentrations like 600mg, 1000mg, or 1500mg. To calculate the mg per drop: divide the total mg by the number of drops in the bottle (typically around 600 drops for a 30ml bottle with a standard dropper).
For example, a 1000mg / 30ml bottle gives you approximately 1.67mg per drop. So for a 15mg dose, you'd take about 9 drops.
"Keep a journal of your doses and how you feel. After two weeks, you'll have a clear picture of what works for you."
